Fascinating single-vineyard wine from the Edi Simcic winery. The Kozana vineyard is one of the best sites on the estate. North-west facing – sunny but also windy. Perfect for the Sauvignon grape variety. The soil is interspersed with large stones, plenty of water in the depths of the hill, exceptional permeability of the soil. The Sauvignon vines have very deep roots and were planted in 1986.

Edi Simcic is a master of intense, powerful, Burgundy-style white wines, and he stays true to this style here. Aged in barriques, the Kozana Sauvignon develops its full potential. The interplay of spice, fruit and minerality is particularly captivating. Gooseberries, lemons, cassis, apricots, Mediterranean and native herbs such as sage and lemon balm. Combined with vanilla, subtle smoky aromas, brioche and elderflower. Beautifully salty.

On the palate, it is full-bodied, juicy, refined, has an exciting structure and a very long finish. It shows us a new side of the Sauvignon Blanc variety, far removed from grassiness and dominant gooseberry. A real delight!
