Top-quality Refosco from the Slovenian region of Istria

This hand-picked Refosco from the Santomas winery is a wonderful example of the potential of the Refosco red wine variety. It is aged partly in large (3000L), partly in small (350L) and partly in barrique barrels, where it matures for 12 months.

The colour of the red wine is typically deep purple. The bouquet on the nose is beautifully ripe, juicy, rich and spicy. It is stimulating and vital and gives hope for the depth to come. On the palate, dry spices, chocolate, dark cherries and even coffee. A variety of flavours that makes a lasting impression, yet never loses its fruity freshness.

On the palate, Santomas Refosk is dry and powerful, with medium-sized tannins, pleasant acidity and a rich, oily texture. It masterfully balances a complex, deep red wine with a fruity, lively playfulness.
