Burja Zelen 2022 organic wine

The Zelen is an autochthonous white wine variety of Slovenia and is very popular in the Vipava Valley. "Zelen" means green when translated into German.

For the Burja Zelen, Primoz Lavrencic uses vines that are 5 to 10 years old. In the current vintage, the grape juice was in contact with the skins for 2 days and then matured in steel tanks for 7 months. This procedure gives the Zelen its very own touch. Its color is a brilliant gold.

If we put it in the glass, fresh citrus notes emerge immediately. Grapefruit and green apple and floral aromas. The first impression continues in the mouth. Again, lemon, grapefruit and paprika. Light herbal notes and a unique saltiness, as we know it from wines that grow in more Mediterranean regions.

In the mouth it is perfectly dry, balanced buttery and characterized by minerality. The Burja Zelen - a complex, exciting and biodynamically produced white wine of the best quality from Slovenia.
