Orange Pet Nat from the Riesling grape

Sparkling Riesling Pet-Nat from Matic Wines, aged on the shell in a clay amphora for 22 days before bottling and made without any added sulfur.

Pét-Nat, short for the French term pétillant-naturel, is an exciting "new" type of sparkling wine. Pét-Nat is used for natural sparkling wines, produced according to the "méthode ancestrale". The sparkling wine is bottled before the first fermentation is complete. The quality of the Pét-Nat is then obtained through the naturally produced carbonic acid from the sugars contained in the grapes.

In the glass, the Mea Orange Pet-Nat from Slovenia is golden-orange in color and very cloudy, as we would like to see in an unfiltered natural Pet-Nat wine.

Lush on the nose with lovely herbal aromas, along with earthy notes from the clay maturation. The typical Riesling notes emerge in the mouth with a pleasant acidity. In addition, fruity apple and pear aromas and the aromas of bitter orange zest.

A Pet-Nat from Slovenia for adventurous connoisseurs. Matic himself says of his Mea Orange: “This is a funky piece of wine production.”
