Limoncello made from sun-ripened Sardinian lemons
With a fresh and delicately fruity taste, this limoncello contains all the fragrance of fresh lemons ripened under the Sardinian sun. A fine yellow colour already radiates from the bottle. It is still prepared with a slow and controlled infusion according to an old and original recipe. The result is a liqueur with an intense aroma, which is characterised by its digestive properties and fine taste at the end of a meal. It is also excellent with ice cream. Try it!
The production of Limoncello
To make Limoncello, the outer peel of untreated lemons must be very thinly peeled, without the white layer in between. The white lining would make the taste of the limoncello very bitter. The lemon peel is macerated in 95% vol. alcohol for three to four weeks. In the process, the alcohol draws the essential oils out of the lemon peel. The macerate is then brought to drinking strength with hot water and sugar or syrup. The liqueur is left to rest for at least another week and then filtered.
