Dry, fruity, exotic - Furmint from Slovenia

Just recently awarded a fantastic silver medal and 91 points in the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Furmint is the oldest grape in Slovenian Styria. It has been grown in Slovenia for a very long time. The local name - Šipon ("sheep") developed when French soldiers occupying the region tasted it and commented: "Mhmm, cest si bon".

The 2019 vintage of the Dveri-Pax winery shows a lemon yellow light color. The scent is very fine with beautiful floral accents that are reminiscent of a walk in blooming vineyards. The classic Furmint notes stand out more strongly - ripe pears, yellow apples. Elegant, fruity, very inviting.

It is dry in the mouth, typically Šipon, with moderate acidity. Mineral and slightly salty aromas emerge on the palate. It is surprising how long the aromas last for a light, fresh wine. It is an excellent choice of aperitif. After the 2016 vintage, this is another classic Furmint from the Dveri-Pax winery.
