Natural, elegant, exceptional

The Pinot Noir vines of Primoz Lavrencic of the Burja winery grow on marl soils in the Vipava Valley in Slovenia at an altitude of 200–260 metres in a northeasterly direction. The vines are 12–20 years old and planted very densely. The Burja Noir is made from the best Pinot Noir vines. Only 3,000–4,000 litres of wine are produced per hectare. This means that about 0.8 kg of grapes are harvested per vine. Needless to say, the grapes are handpicked and biodynamic.

Primoz tries to keep the process from the vines to the red wine as natural as possible and with as little external influence as possible. That is why the new winery was designed so that the wine never has to be moved using electric pumps, but always follows the force of gravity.

12 months in barrique barrels, spontaneous fermentation and no filtration create a unique Pinot Noir. Ripe red fruits, especially cherry and raspberry notes, fine tannins combined with the pleasant softness and elegance of Pinot Noir. Underbrush and smoky notes perfectly round off the enjoyment of this natural wine.

The Noir is the red flagship of the house. Burja. A magnificent red wine.
