Cotar Crno Teran 2019 organic wine

Crno Teran – a very special red wine from the Karst region

The Karst Teran Crno from the Vina Cotar winery is a unique red wine speciality from Slovenia. PTP on the label stands for Priznano Tradicionalno Poimenovanje, which translates as ‘Recognised Traditional Designation’. PTP legally protects and guarantees the geographical origin, the name and the traditional cultivation of Kras Teran, as we are also familiar with from Cvicek.

Like all natural wines from the Cotar winery, the Teran is fermented in open vats directly on the must and then spontaneously without the addition of selected yeasts. It is aged for four years in large 1,500-litre wooden barrels before the red wine is bottled unfiltered. No sulphur is added throughout the entire process.

On the nose, the Cotar Teran displays lovely notes of red fruits, cherry, blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, it is fresh, linear and beautifully balanced, characterised by a distinctive acidity. A taste experience that lingers in the memory and can only be found in the Slovenian Karst.
