Monastery fruit schnapps – a pure delight

The right selection and quality of fruit are essential for a good fruit schnapps. At Pleterje Monastery, apples from the monastery's own garden, which are grown according to organic standards, are used to make fruit schnapps. The monastery has an apple orchard with what is probably the largest number of old apple varieties in Europe. It is important to the Carthusian monks to preserve and care for these old varieties.

The apples are carefully selected, ground and fermented. Only apples with the ideal degree of ripeness are used to make the fruit schnapps. This is how this pure, fruity and pleasantly fresh fruit schnapps is created, which is often enjoyed after a meal.
