A unique Sauvignon – a broadening of horizons

Sauvignons from Slovenian winegrowing areas often develop a powerful bouquet with distinct notes of paprika, hay and elderflower. The Movia Winery's Orange Wine-style Sauvignon is an intense golden colour. The nose is rather discreet for a Sauvignon Blanc, but beautifully floral, complex and ripe. This one is more of a cool type, taking it easy, waiting a bit and not showing everything right away. It is dry, with a hint of sweetness, with ripe and vibrant acids and an oily texture. The character on the palate is persistent, diverse and offers honey, gentle oak and floral notes.

The Movia winery lives up to its name and, bucking the trend, produces not a mainstream Sauvignon Blanc, but one that opens up new horizons for this international variety. After the late harvest, the wine first ferments on its own yeasts in large tanks before maturing for 18 months in French barrique barrels.

The orange wine is perfect to enjoy now, but it also has a high ageing potential of at least 10 years.
