South Tyrol
The wine region of South Tyrol in northern Italy is characterised by Alpine and Mediterranean influences, depending on its location. This makes the Italian wines from this small wine region so varied and unique. No other Italian wine region produces such a high density of DOC quality wines in such a small area. The South Tyrol region is dominated by white wine, which accounts for almost two-thirds of the vineyard area. White wines such as Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Lagrein and Vernatsch are among the best-known red wines of South Tyrol.
